Not a beer fan, but there's some local breweries nearby too. Flying Fish in my hometown has some good stuff though.

I sure hope he has time to see Norfolk Southern battling the grade out of Altoona. Man, those sounds, long trains and grades, he will get hooked on US freight railroading. ! Theres nothing like it. **!!bow!!**

I'm happy he got to see the absolute best GG1 left. (And old rivets). They're beautiful in pictures but seeing it in person is jaw dropping.

Hope they get old rivets indoors when the new shed is built.

Yeah, but it is a 3 hour drive from Strasburg to Altoona. Call it 3h20m to get to the horseshoe curve visitor center. I know - I checked. But I guess if you come that far, you might as well do it right and make the trek.

Hi Guys,

Back in the UK again, touched down 6am local time this morning.

I capture an awful lot, taking the opportunity to do as much as I could across the 2 days I spent there. Nothing has been announced yet about the particular rolling stock I was there to capture, but post 2012 I'm sure it wont be long. Marketing were also keen for me to capture broader material to help them as well, so HD video was also to hand, which I'm sure you'll be entertained with in the not to distant future.

As mentioned by others, as well as on my tweets, I want to extend an very big thank you to the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania for hosting my visit and helping me as much as they could. In particular, Katlyn Connelly, and Nick Zmijewski, as well as Donner from the museum shop.

Regards

If yall ever come to the Southeastern US, stop by the Spencer shops in Spencer, NC. It was the largest shops on the Southern Railway and is now the NC museum of Transportation, the old roundhouse and service buildings (as well as the yard!) are full of old freight cars and locomotives, some being restored, some completed, some waiting. We also have a restored 1940s Thomas Built school bus (built in High Point, NC!) and a collection of restored automobiles. Hope you had a good trip to Philly though, when I went up to Strasburg I enjoyed seeing the DD1, GG1, going inside a CR GP30, and seeing the NS locomotive simulator cab.

Man if they come to Spencer, NC. I will show them around. I live just down the road in Salisbury, NC. I'll def. show them Linwood Yard (and try to see if Norfolk Southern would let us tour the yard). :D
