Not as many as you might think. Oroville, however, a hive of activity.
Cheers!

This map is from 1955, I don't know how different it would be 15 years later and it may not be much for industry but I could still spend some time in the yard.

I watched your video. The scenery looks great ( as your Martinez route). But there is something that I do not understand.
Why the need of a large diameter loop with such a low difference in altitude loss, maybe 15 feet?

I tried to replicate what is there in real life to the best of my ability. I used Google earth when I put the track in. And if you go to YouTube and see the real Williams Loop you will see I came close to what is there. I updated the route a little after seeing a YouTube video here are two screen shots. My goal is to come close to reality on all of my routes. I may not be 100 accurate but I try do the best that I can with what talent that I have. Here is also a screen shot of the real thing.

The Martinez route is my personal route i have been working on from time to time. It is where i live I use way too many payware so that is why it is my personal route. I post videos of it on YouTube. It is one of those routes i go back to when i am taking a break from the other routes i work on. Iam helping friends with another route also but when Feather River Canyon route came out i had to do the extension. It has always been my favorite. We used to as a family go up there alot when i was younger. So after i finish the Extension on the Feather River route I will go back to helping my friends with there project.

I found this picture in Classic Trains- Spring 2003 taken at the Williams Loop.
The concrete structure looks pretty similar to that of today and as rendered by dleeboy.

Feather River Express bound for Portola, passing below the Williams Loop structure (August 1947)

The train shown is a local passenger service named Feather River Express pulled by a 2-8-0 Consolidation 2, an old horse from the beginning of the century (and WP).

Not the same as the Lima Connie we have from Smokebox, but pretty similar as to think about its usage for Feather River Canyon scenarios.
