Great video.
I wasn't expecting Ennio Morricone's music from The good, the bad and the ugly.

They seem to think you're awesome for some reason.

There is no advertising that I can see.

Hi,

Great videos.
Steam simulation in Railworks/TS2015 increases their realism, day a day.
Regards.

Maybe it's because I'm watching it from the UK - every few minutes it gets interrupted with local adverts (and some it won't even let me skip after a few seconds).

Thanks man :)

I'm taking a break from operating her for the time being, but once that fix drops that allows me to double-head the FEFs, I've got one more long excursion movie I want to record !!*ok*!!

Close-up shots taken using a cinematic camera to move around the exterior of the locomotive.

Good idea! I'll post it on Steam (no point sending it to DTG).

This is a very informative review of the FEF-3 by a steam locomotive fireman:

Part 2 is here, where Robert explains a lot about oil-firing and shows how to run the FEF-3 like a pro!

Thanks, Mike! I'm not an expert steam driver by any measure, but I thought I'd at least try and see how fast I could go using the HUD version with Expert Fireman enabled and my limited knowledge of steam operation. I think 107 MPH ain't too bad. Any longer and I think I was going to be losing steam pressure though. !*don-know!*
It will be very interesting to create a somewhat realistic PAX scenario and try to keep up steam while negotiating grades and curves. It's a fantastically detailed model and I'm glad I acquired it! Now to get busy learning it... !!*ok*!!
Thanks for your efforts! *!!thnx!!*
Best regards, !*cheers*!

Thanks Fanrailer for this topic. Lots of vids for me to watch (and hopefully learn from)
I recently came across the FEF and fell in love. I normally am a fan of the US diesels and both Diesel and electric I run without any major problems, steam however...not for me.
The FEF changed all this, seeing the detail and the extend of the simulation made by Smokebox screamed "learn me, learn me" (as I see the FEF as a female, it screamed some other things as well but hey... family friendly site)

My journey so far to become a steam engineer from first run, major blow up to my first 1000xp running the HUD version. I am currently reading and practicing and watching videos and do more reading and practicing (rinse and repeat) to be able to run the Adv version. Got it running up to 25Mph but had a critical failure due to water in the injector, blew up the steam boiler, goot to a standstill once and never got her back moving.... things like that. I am such a noob when it comes to her advanced version. On the plus side of things.... other steam engines like the Flying Scotsman, Big Boy and the black 5 are no driven by me with two fingers up the nose and my legs in my neck

Join my journey from greenhorn to (I hope one day) master engine driver in these videos, laugh and point if wanted, provide tips or jus say hi..all comments are welcome

hhmm somehow my youtube links don't stick as videos it just shows that bbcode so I removed them, just click them links :)

Welcome aboard the UP 844 Feather River Canyon excursion. We will be taking a consist of 24 cars up the 1% grade from Oroville to Keddie Wye and back. Settle back and enjoy the trip =)

Table of contents:
0:00 - 30:20 - Assembling the consist in Oroville Yard and proceeding to Oroville Depot to pick up passengers.
32:08 - 3:44:12 - Departing Oroville, 844 powers up the 1.0% ruling grade towards Keddie. Along the way we experience an issue with the water pump from the auxiliary tenders, necessitating a slower than normal speed and a short stop at Paxton to trouble shoot.
3:44:12 - 3:56:53 - After correcting the issue at Paxton, we continue the final few miles to Keddie.
4:00:20 - 4:13:44 - Following a brief breather stop at Keddie, we reverse the train over the wye in preparation for the return trip.
4:14:50 - 6:50:40 - The return trip downgrade to Oroville.
6:50:40 - 7:10:51 - Bringing the train back to the yard and laying up the locomotive.
