Here are some screens, the model is almost ready. Scenarios are currently being developed. We´d like to here your comments and thoughts on this.

Only two comments. Beautiful model, but with the rusty outside supports in the second photo are shiny with the sun hitting it. The only thing shiny on these girls would be wheel treads and the coupler face and inside of the coupler knuckle. These are such a nice model.

Yep, lots of folks forget the coal dust and soot that was EVERYWHERE. You could not escape the stuff...lt was on and in everything if you lived anywhere near the railroad tracks or heavy coal use industries. It really made things bleak and dreary..... But, it was accepted because we didn’t know any better - a necessary evil. We romance the “Age of Steam”, but it was pretty ugly.......

I saw one of those X23 boxcars at the Eastern Shore Railway Museum.

Perfect model you all created. !*salute*!

Thanks for the comments, guys. I will forward the concern about the "shiny" look to the modeler. This is not the final version, so any feedback will go into the building process.
We are also working on a MOW version, like the one you posted the photo taken at the Eastern Shore Railway Museum.

Just a quick suggestion on the MOW version. Maybe you could use Bettendorf trucks instead of arch bar (see pics from prior post). Cars were usually moved to MOW service at end of life, and by this time, Bettendorf trucks had pretty much replaced arch bar trucks. Or offer two version... one with arch bar and one with Bettendorf. Otherwise, looks good. We need more steam and transition era railcars in the sim.

If you're looking for reference material, look for Railway Prototype Cyclopedias on the internet. They are softbound books specializing in steam and transition era US railcars. Excellent detailed articles that center around a particular type, and even manufacturer of a car. Lots of historical photos, rosters, and even detailed drawings. I use them for my model railroading, and they are a must have. Just wanted to pass it on.

So, I took a look at the trucks and I found this article: http://mrr.trains.com/~/media/import/fi ... rucks.ashx

Seems that we need to change them to Bettendorf - I wasn´t aware that the old trucks were not permitted to be used after 1939!
