Development is now underway on our next project where we will go back in time to the 1940s.

This almost seems like it might be the Rio Grande Southern (looks like a k-27 in the screen shots, and the scenery looks about right for it) I really look forward to another narrow gauge route. !*YAAA*!

Wow that’s exciting! An era not often represented in train sim.

Have it just caught this. Very interesting news. My wishlist would have been Alamosa to Chama on the DRGW. Dual gauge Alamosa with large steam for working over La Veta Pass and a good uphill grade in both directions, and good snow plow wouldn't go astray. Website mentions a 50 mile route, so that is counted out. RGS out of Durango would be Interesting too.

Just have to wait out the next 12 .months and all will be revealed.

!*cheers*!

Ps, 'C&TS" route is 64 miles, so I guess that is out too. !*salute*!

Milepost Simulations posted these screenshots on their Facebook, over a week ago. They don't say the exact location, besides it "being a famous bridge", but I believe most people will recognize this as the lower part of the Ophir loop and bridge 45-A (with the station of Ophir in the background) on the Rio Grande Southern. So far, the route looks fantastic and I'm excited to see more. :D

Truly amazing screenshots!

The impressive landscaping, in this case with the natural look of the arid vegetation and the stunning rocks in particular, have long been a defining feature Jonathan's routes and the new one looks set to follow in that remarkable tradition.

Steam era, narrow gauge, all on such a beautifully crafted layout -- I can't wait to take my train for a spin up and down those bridges! !*brav*!

Cheers,
Michael

IF this is the RGS, and it seems so as that IS the Ophir Station in the screenshot, then I’m all in! The big question now is “How much of the RGS is modeled?”. If it’s only Ridgeway to Rico, I hope they include at least the height mapping data so someone can finish it out down to Durango…..

That can be easily added. There is lots of nice high resolution DEM available for the state.

I remember spending many hours with Jonathan's original RGS route and other narrow gauge models he made in the early days of MSTS, and enjoying every minute of it. Hard to imagine that was around 15 years ago.

Michael, I also spent many hours enjoying your GN Hi-line route in MSTS as well. :D

I guess you will have to wait for more screenshots or the release.

Well, the first photo is Rico. The second is Vance Junction. See map: https://nn3.tripod.com/rgsmap.htm

They really need to develop new tree models. This part of Colorado is covered in huge Aspen, Douglas Fir and Ponderosa Pine forests. The puny tree models shown in the screenshots have been overused in a lot of routes and are just not representative of the area. Harvesting trees in this area was BIG business. Thousands of board feet of lumber were taken out of the area between Delores and Placerville. Watch this: https://youtu.be/MBvItnV8HZg

Wait to see how this turns out for sure - BIG RGS fan! I need a reason to pull out Dick Cowen’s RGS rolling stock that’s been collecting dust (shameless plug for Dick!) all these years. I wanted to do this route way back, but my crappy skills just weren’t up to the task.
