Bumbleberry Creek Logging Co. R.R. (Edited Bauer Lumber)

Unread postby B-24_LIBERATOR » Mon Jul 08, 2013 2:40 pm

INFO:This is a rework of the original Bauer Logging Co. found on the C&O Allegheny (and named after pie). It will be released separate of the route and requires quite a few payware assets found in the following routes:

Horseshoe Curve
Donner Pass
Durango & Silverton
Portland Terminal
Colten & Northern

Recommended rolling stock:

Britkits logging mega-pack
Great Northern's steam era freight cars
Smokeboxes' Consolidation
(Coming Soon... *!rolleyes!* )

Freeware Requirements:

TBD...might make a pack.

This will be a very graphically heavy route and you might need to have a faster computer or lower your settings to run it, so far I have only used it on my own computer and do not know how it will react to others.

So, as some may or may not have heard my hard drive crashed and I'm trying to get everything back, I have a good chance of doing so because I believe the card went bad and not the drive itself...in the meantime here's most of what I had so far.

Heres all the extra freeware I think you need (besides what C&O already requires)

********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************

Since I recently got permission from Tori to re-release Bauer I decided to make a WIP thread so you guys can see what I'm doing and give any suggestions as to how it can be improved before I release the final version (or update it but I have to figure out how to release a route in the first place *!lol!* )

A appreciate all of the compliments and support prior to this thread and hopefully will be able to (re)release Bauer for all of you to enjoy.

Recently got Colton & Northern which means...MORE LOGGING ASSETS! :D

IS this going to be a standalone route or is it going to be an update to the C&O?

This is looking extremely realistic! I think Pete would be very pleased to see what the BLC is becoming! "Way back when" he had so few assets to work with --and so little time left-- I don't know that either of us imagined it could look like this. Personally, I'm so glad to see this initiative since I'm getting so little done on the computer lately (being too distracted by this fascinating land called Oregon). I will be offering Brian (Liberator) whatever help I can to get this distributed for others to enjoy. It looks like it might be a standalone though it does require several other payware routes to display all the assets.

While I've seen no pictures of the Henderson Lumber Company that originally stood at Anthony, WV, I've seen many photos from other nearby locations and they look like this. Some folks have asked me about the pines Brian is using and I think they are period appropriate. Before the early 1900's logging boom here, much of the mountain slopes and tops sported spruce and hemlock forests, as well as the wide variety of hardwoods seen here today. After the boom went bust, most of the land recovered in pure hardwoods except for a few high barren areas, which is how it still looks today. The few spruce and pine groves seen in this region today were planted by the NFS, CCC, and land-owners in the 30's and 40's and are not the original varieties so they never thrived here. Spruce Knob and Dolly Sods (north of Cass) are examples of the major damage still remaining caused by overly-aggressive logging practices and limited understanding of how to repair it. Barren (but scenic) today, those high elevations once resembled the dense, moss-laden rain forests of the Pacific Northwest of North America.

Camping?.... great idea! 'Cept, I think I'll setup beside a small lake high in the Cascades. I hate to admit it, but it's even more beautiful than "Home" this time of year.

It's more or less just my imagination running wild anyway, there's really no rhyme or reason to where I put anything except to make it look like my idea of a logging route. Which is why I was thinking of possibly renaming it so it wouldn't give the impression of an actual historic route (probably putting Bauer rework after the name so people still know where it came from).

I think it would be cool to make a historical route someday... once I learn the proper way to lay track and make terrain.

Truly stunning - I am sure it will prove a great legacy for Pete's initial work. Thanks too to Tori for helping it to happen.

What other payware assets will be required to enjoy this in its glory? Hopefully not too much.

Just continue on doing what you were doing - you obviously have a great eye for atmosphere and detail. !!*ok*!!

!*cheers*! and *!!thnx!!*

I was thinking something along the lines of Hidden Valley Ranch R.R. or Foster Farms R.R. *!rolleyes!*

I was hoping to give it a really western feeling name, Pinetop Canyon Lumber Co. , Gopher Ridge R.R. , Rickety Flats :D

I dunno somebody come up with a cool name :D

Don't make it too Western since it's in the East.

LOL! There is an Eastwood Co. (Automotive). Call it "Eastwood". *!lol!*
Sounds like we could have a name it contest. Winner wins nothing. Just like the Snapple commercial. "I won nothing!" !*roll-laugh*! Sorry guys. Couldn't resist.

true but if its going to be something completely separate from the COA and fictional you can kinda throw geological placement and stuff for realism on those lines out the window. plus it does have more of a western feel to it doesn't it?
