Actually, this is about the correct length for a engine that has 3 wheels per truck. Might have to again stretch it a little later.

Here's it from the back.

A little more progress on the Alco MRS-1

This is really a large engine, and no, I don't think it would make a very good yard engine since these were bigger then GP7's.

Looks good, how many of these were made, do any operate today, and what types of applications were these units suited for?

This was a post war locomotive, used in the cold war and made during 1953 and 1954. There are a couple left, out of the 80 that were originally made. But I know most were scrapped. They were originally made for the US Military and once the military didn't want them anymore they sold them to small railroads that at the time needed a large locomotive like this size.

They were originally made to go to the enemy country, take there railroad, and then use the railroad. MRS stands for Military Road Switcher, that's what I found out about it.

The youtube video where someone captured a bunch of reference photo's was where I found the needed reference photo's at. They took the video before destroying the actual locomotive. They got real good shots of both the outside and the inside in the cab, then right after that it was on to the destruction of the engine.

Was surprised that they would take photo's before destroying the locomotive and all evidence of what it would have looked like would have died with it.

Put in the windows...

Looking good!
I'm surprised you're not working with scale drawings in the 3D app though.

Unfortunately for this locomotive, I don't know of any scale drawings.

A little more progress.

The engine is slowly getting there, very soon I'll transfer it over to 3d crafter and hope to be able to try it in the game within the next few weeks.

Just about finished with the body, next is texturing. Will try to get a little guidance from eyein about how to handle the blueprints. Hope to have the full version in the game and running with cab and sounds before next month is over.

Some more progress on the Alco MRS-1

Soon I'll transfer it to Crafter, finish the body, add the trucks and the wheels and then attempt to get the body running in Railworks. And I mean running down the track.

Will be finishing the body very soon and then will then put it into 3d crafter and finish it up.

Leave it to be known though, the Alco MRS1 was a hard locomotive to see out of, since the front nose was so much longer then the GP7 front noze, and not to mention side ladders in the way of a very clear view at what's in the way. So, you put a car on the track, it might get hit before you even know it's there.

I've now finished all the railing, all the ladders and after I finish the back plow it will be closer to be going to Crafter. There I will chanfer the edges and try to round them some so the locomotive will be even more like the real thing. After that it's time to try to get the body into the game to test it and try to get it running.

And about the paint job, I don't know the first bit of repainting so if anything the default will be a plain flat gray, military gray some might say. No numbers, nothing but stock paint.
If we work at it we can bring back the 30's and the 60's to Railworks.

The initial paint is not as important as how you unwrap the model. If you don't do this step correctly it would only be able to be repainted properly (or just as one or two colors) and no one could weather it for you.
