The modern log cars are almost ready for release. Here are some screen shots.

All have auto-numbering for the cars in a road name series and are empty, loaded with long poles and loaded with short logs. The cars are not interactively loadable and unless requested will stay that way. They also have my new lower shelf coupler installed.

These will be published, unlike some of my previous works, as I'm pretty happy with them out of the box. PM me if you want on the short list for beta testing. BNOV2 you're already on the list!

Thanks!

Nice new cars. Especially those type F lower shelf couplers.

Wow! They look really nice and will fit right with my new fictional route that's in the works. Thank your the add on! !*salute*!

Those look good! Did you get the pole idea from my video?

Looking great.

Perhaps later you should convert them into some 60's era autorack train cars.

Thanks for all the enthusiasm everyone. BNOV2 made a request and I thought I could tackle it.

Kanawha-I was working on some double shelf for my corn syrup tanks and thought that the lower shelf would be a nice addition. So I now have regular, lower and double shelf couplers and they have working air hoses and angle cocks.

CPRailfan34-I did see the video and thought that those poles would look great and they do, thanks!

JP- not sure what you mean about the '60's autoracks. I don't think these would work, since there's no floor...post some pics...

Hope to upload these next week if all the testers say they are ok.

Can these be used on other cars, by linking to your provider folder from the car's blueprint, instead of the default Kuju folder?

Would like to use them on tank cars and double stack cars.

Your welcome for the inspiration for the Pole Load, truth is we have a Pole mill in the valley I live in.It's not very often I see them but they do come through south bound. I live close to the Windermere Sub the line that connects the Mountain and Crowsnest subs and also links south to Cranbrook which In turn has a yard. Following the yard the line then goes through Creston west to the coast and south to the border. So if anyone recreates the Windermere sub I'll be sure to get these cars for the pole mill. !!*ok*!! Most of the time the poles are usually loaded by front loader, so the non interactive loads are realistic as when a train does a pick up they are usually already loaded. And vice versa for dropping off the empties. As you saw in the video the ones I see aren't of the skeleton design, any chances of adding the LTTX and SJTX flatcar style log/pole cars? This can be done seperate from this pack. Also well done on the pole loads, they look very realistic.

This HO scale website has some great flatcar loads. Maybe they can inspire some 3D modelers.

As a result of some off-line discussions, I have a few questions for you car designers out there. First, what are the best default sounds (and their TS paths please) to call out in the blueprint? Academy? Kuju?

Secondly, the question of brakes was discussed, about the default values being too strong and the brakes grabbing right away. After doing some searches, I found a paper examining wheel slide induced defects due to the braking force being higher than the wheel-rail adhesion force. The authors suggested the brake forces be 8-13% of the car wt for loads and <38% for empties. That sounded reasonable, and so after trying the values out in a car, they seemed to work pretty well. My questions then are: what values are others using and what the heck is a proportional brake? Not trying to start a whole discussion on the physics of the sim, just looking for what seems to work for others.

Thanks for any potential responses.
