The New York Division - Bergen Line as conceived is a hybrid era route reflecting the late 1960s through today. The name is intended to evoke the era of operations on the Erie-Lackawanna. The track speeds, track conditions were recreated from the New York Division Time table Effective 0201hours August 25th, 1974 . As a hybrid, what is meant is that though out the construction of the route, elements that are missing in the current era have been recreated. The prime example of this is the recreation of the Ford Plant in Mahwah, NJ. The 4 track main that existed through the 1970s with Conrail is reduced to 2 track from Waldwick to Suffern, to reflect its current condition. Many sidings present in the pre-Norfolk Southern area have been restored on this route. Platforms for stations are both high and low type as they exist today. So the hybrid method is intended to create enough flavor to echo the routes former self and capture its modern state. The route as it stands constructed at this moment is 47 miles of full scenery from Highland Mills, New York to the Bergen Hill, in Jersey City, NJ. The plan is to complete the route Hoboken move back to Suffern and redo the elevations to Highland Mills, NY. The route terrain is hand formed using USGS maps and Google earth, no DEM was used in the route. The lack of using DEM has caused a great amount of pain in lost time, however, the topography is there. On the New Jersey side it is very accurate down the street level. West of Suffern the elevation at grade is off up to 60 feet. As we approach the 1 year anniversary on June 1, 2015, it is time to present this to Railworks America at it is finally sufficient to be presented for your consideration and enjoyment.

We construct in sections, in order, doing terrain, track, signals, streets, buildings, trees and shrubs and lastly telephone poles and lighting. We release every 1 to 2 weeks on Friday Mornings. We pride ourselves in our scenery work. We do 1250 feet on each side of the track at a minimum and we build at a rate of one half mile by one half mile every 20 hours of work or 1 week. Lastly, we feel the track grades are very true to life and they change mile to mile and in many places less than that. You will see the up and down of the track through the whole route and we think that is very cool.
