One of my favourite units on one of my favoutie roads, yay!

The saturated orange on a freshly painted unit with light weathering, perhaps the black was even a little shiny when new.
the bleached orange on a well used and weathered unit, where the black also isn't so "black" anymore.

Grande's SD's and GP's got very dirty and sooty because of the high altitude and long tunnels they had to traverse.
I'll look for some more pics. Being from the analogue film era, there is considerable colour variation.

So there seems to be two paint schemes worn during the service life of these units.
Notice the low and high mounted brake cylinders. Most roads rebuilt the trucks with high mounted brake cylinders as the low ones were easily damaged in derailments.

Here is what I have so far then. The 'brand new, just out the box version' I guess.

Not sure on those Front Boards, the ones that would have a Scoop on them. If there was a Scoop it would be in Haz colour but there isn't one on this model. So, Blue or Orange is your choice, front and rear of Loco.

The solid orange front doesn't look right to me, also because there are no dropsteps. Can you try the same fishbone pattern as on the hood's ends to make it less conspicuous?

Otherwise "paint it black" (isn't that a song title? !**conf**! )

Missing custom options like plows, horns, steps, lights, etc. are one more reason to release every US engine in kit form, undecorated with painting templates.
Guess that will never happen with RSC nowadays, but perhaps with the builders "that are ours"?

Yes, the dark colour is way better. In the meantime I started the CSX.

For fonts, like the numberboards, try here: http://www.railsimstuff.com/files/font/drgwsp.zip
Looking at those pictures, the number boards aren't in the speed lettering style font. I'm sure someone else more well versed than I could name it, if it isn't in Pete's pack there.
Otherwise, commendable work! I love to see this great variety!

I have a good selection of fonts but the 'exact' fonts will always be better. There is a site that sells them for like 20 bucks a time but I think that is beyond the scope of my project. I will update the Rio with the one linked.

Thanks

Which CSX Colour is correct? One is from a site listing Livery colours in RGB the other is from CSX website and is a colour sample I made.
