Thanks Buzz, I already know about that website, I've been using their photos as desktop backgrounds for a few years, especially, the fallen flags and Class 2 and 3 Railroads, some fabulous piccies from all year round. !!*ok*!!

On a personal note, finally after 4 years there is enough of the Bergen Line built to send to my father. So, not only is he getting the game, the route, a good bit of DLC, he is getting hooked up with a brand spanking new Dell G3 Laptop.

His Specs:
8th Generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8750H Processor (6Core, 9MB Cache, up to 4.1GHz w/ Turbo Boost)
Windows 10 Pro (64bit) English
8GB, 1x8GB, DDR4, 2666MHz
128GB Solid State Drive
1TB 5400 rpm Hard Drive
17.3-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS Anti-Glare LED-Backlit Display
NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) GTX 1050 Ti with 4GB GDDR5 graphics memory

I was expecting more fps gains. And by that I was thinking mid 20's. I get it, just not in the hyper dense areas: Hoboken, Secaucus and Montgomery. I was getting 15 with AI running in Hoboken, and overall the machine handles the route well with tile - to tile stutter being absent with this machine.

He knows its coming - I am looking forward to his impressions from the cab as a retired engineer of the Erie Lackawanna Railroad!

I assume he already has the game Adam, as TS2018 is on Sale at 77% off for the next 36 hours, or, so, for about 8 bucks, if he doesn't, and this will no doubt upgrade to TS2019 in September when DTG release it, and it'll be 64-bit as well, so, he shouldn't get any scenery/tile stuttering, or, any other little foibles, those specs look grand, I'm sure he will be overjoyed. !!*ok*!!

The much delayed, yet anticipated by the "Jersey Curious" who what to be in the know: Weekly Route Update.

Point One: My day job is INSANE. Ill skip the details as I don't want a smack down from Bob.

This reminds me of something I wanted to check and also confirm if Bob reads my thread, so here goes. Hey Bob, when your doing facing with the chisel do ya rest it loosely between your thumb and pointer finger where the wide part of the blade starts on the shaft is just beyond the edge of your palm? Is there anytime you would use an acetylene torch on a stone? Last, do you ever need to change the ceramic nozzle at the end of the airline? (I am trying to use some inside ball here) *!greengrin!*

Back the update - there is about 20 hours work sitting here for release. I have had only 45mins of work done in the past 10 days. If your following along or have checked the work on the Boonton already, I am filling out the peripheral scenery. Then I will start to punch the scenery to Arlington. Check your maps, I got a boatload of buildings to get done. I might squeeze out the update just to post what's there. I hope to get some build time in the next few days to reacquaint myself and get a better picture of where I am at.

Super Secret Spy Squirrel Project work continues.

Dad is still Pre-Qualifying by reading the manual before the operation of any virtual locomotive (didn't see that coming)

Work has never nailed me this hard in the 4 years of building. As always, I am undaunted.

As long as there is a nice financial reward at the end, then its not for nothing at least. We patiently await the next dose of digital greatness.

Its Saturday night - and I am building. Let's see if I can explain what is going on. As noted previously, I am working on what was once the Greenwood Lake Branch, more recently (circa 1965) as the Boonton line, so I can drop a single closed station in Arlington, NJ. In this work we also now have a section of what was the Newark Branch. This is all Erie track and as of 2002 is out of service. Its key feature, it runs perpendicular to the Hackensack river about 2 meters above the water. Problem: you can see forever from North to South. I must break up the horizon and create depth. Its a challenge with the 2D foliage I am using. I went 2D so I you can see them at distance. We are on the inside of a mile away with a lot of this stuff. The pictures below were taken to show this effect. As always, its better in game.

On the amusing side of things, I am now on my 4th major landfill and I have new "Superfund" Toxic site called Standard Chlorine (closed in 1993) that I just finished. Why are we here? Well, we do the stuff that no one would dare to! Lastly, we like a challenge. Lets go to the shots...

Still would love to see this route back-dated to the late 60's some day, perhaps circa 1969.

It's looking good.

I think everyone will agree: "The New York Division Bergen Line NEEDS to be backdated to 1969"!

Let me put this out there: If any developer, DTG, or a pack of EL train nutz, wants to back date this route, with me or without. REACH OUT TO ME already!

The good news is that I spent the weekend getting all the distant and medium scenery done to the Eastern Edge of Arlington. As you know, this build was a request. I am trying to figure out what we get out of this work as I have ZERO consignees here.
So we got:
1. Rebuild of the Upper Hack and track extension to Lyndhurst (this preps doing the old main line)
2. Marches/Cattails on the Hackensack River from HX Draw to the I95 Eastern Spur
3. Reworked Scenery from the Hudson Generating Plant to Snake Hill to the Portal Bridge (NEC) both sides
4. Boonton Connecting track, switches and signals reworked
5. Reopened the DB Draw Bridge, set up for doing part of the Boonton Line and set up for the Newark Branch. (both closed in the Modern Era and are obscure industrial spurs in the Eire-EL era)
6. From your point of view we got all the distant scenery West from HX Draw to the East End by the Bergen Tunnels (going East from the cab, if you zoom, you will see scenery at maximum magnification)
* IF you can follow along with all the places I have mentioned above: you JUST might be a huge fan of the Bergen! *!greengrin!*
*EDIT* Description of DB Draw from Wikipedia (which explains all the background and hints at some more reasons I am interested in this place)

DB Draw is a railroad swing bridge crossing the Hackensack River between Secaucus and Kearny, in New Jersey, United States. It was built in 1889 by the New York, Lake Erie and Western Railroad,[1] (reorganized in 1895 as the Erie Railroad) and was used by the New York and Greenwood Lake and the Newark Branch

The bridge later carried New Jersey Transit's Boonton Line until the line was connected to the Montclair Branch via the Montclair Connection, to form the Montclair-Boonton Line. The bridge then reverted to Norfolk Southern Railway control, which has since placed it out of service. It was decommissioned in October 2002 and left in an open position for river traffic.
