The Riverland Lines

Unread postby mrbob19 » Sun Aug 18, 2013 7:53 am

Hi all, i'm finaly back.. a lot happend last year in my private life, so i wansn't able to do anything for a while. A couple of weeks ago i was finaly able to do some route building again and needed to make something to empty my mind...

The Riverside Lines will contain 3 electric train lines at the final release, 2 lines (New Holland to Bradfort and New Holland to Easton) will come with the first version. The route is set in the 60ties, in ME

Here are some screen shots:

i'll let u guys decide yourself if this is a fictional or realistic route. *!!wink!!* I do use paywere stuff in this route, but from only 1 add-on, the HSC. I did wan't to limit it as much as possible and lots of freeware add-ons are used, but this addon is needed to enjoy this route when it's finished for now...

Cheers,
Bob

I will have some sixties cars for you soon, what year do you have it set in. I have here so far a couple 67's and some 66's so far, more to come. I plan on doing some more cars from the early 60's and some from the 70's. Also the one, the 66 Buick Wildcat could also work as a 65 since they both used the same body style.

Very soon, maybe sometime this week I'll release the Version 1 set of these.

By the way, the route looks great so far.

...Cheers...

Big J

I'll be looking forward to some more progress on the route, I think it's looking awesome.

Will be looking forward to some more progress on this.

I'm also going to be doing a couple of 60's drive in theater's very soon, and also I have a old model of The Hop, I'll get it back up very soon.

Light it up with RW lights and place the cars around it like so and it look awesome.

By the way, the 64 Oldsmobile's here and here are already available in the RWA library, they are couple of my earlier models before these recent ones. My newer cars look better though since they have better detail to them.

Also, I have some more decent looking old buildings in the same set where this one came from, with the set I have a readme that tells you everything you get and where to look.

Al tough there arent any new screens yet, this route is still very much alive and shown and played at the Trainsim gathering 2013. The route was received well by thw crowd (knowing that not much dutch people like american Rr). New screenahots are coming soon! The scenery placement is now done for about 20% of the route (first release), so there is still much to be done.

i'm currently working on the New Holland Downtown area, here are some screens. I decided to rebuild everything and include a loop, so it's also possible to use PCC cars on the route. (since their the only decent material to drive with at the moment...)

This looks great! PCC cars should be right at home in your 1950's downtown route.

Haven't run those PCC cars in ages. Do their trolley poles and pick up shoes stay in contact with the overhead wires in curves and switches?
Is there groove rails available even?

There used to be a good Spanish designed streetcar route available, but it required hundreds of individual asset downloads, and I never took the trouble to hunt them all down.

Actually it's set in the 60's, expect a lot more new custom buildings coming by the way.

Modeling a big city's downtown area is difficult for it requires lots of different buildings, banks, stores, shops, appartments, cinemas, cafes and diners, garages, parks, monuments, and what else more to make it look convincing and 'American'. Not to mention vehicles, taxis, buses and people, pedestrians, playing children, policemen, a marching band etc. etc.
Will the trolley run through uptown also, with nice Victorian homes with large gardens for the affluent?

The Sixties, right? That was when the mass movement to suburbia already had started? So there should already be derelict blocks in the downtown parts "across the railroad tracks"?

You have your work cut out for yourself, JPetersJr. Various other small assets of a general nature should be available from Railworks community sites from all over the world.

Some small UKTS routes with a British theme look real nice.

I have all the time in the world these days, not working much due to work and I find 3d modeling a decent hobby when I have someone using the items.

More cars are also to come later, as well as houses and other items.

Please try to use some other architectural styles for variation.

Buildings from the 30's were often in Art Deco style, also villa's for the wealthy.
Civic buildings from the 40's and 50's in modernistic, streamlined, Bauhaus, cubism influenced styles.

Can you show me some examples of what some of these kinds of buildings looked like, I'll add them to my list.
