Santa Fe ALCO FA-1 Repaint

Unread postby Alpenfreight » Thu Aug 06, 2015 5:54 pm

Hello All,

It was brought up in another thread that some people were interested in this, and LordMannu said it was alright, so I am looking at releasing my reskin of the ALCO FA-1. It is not extremely accurate, it is actually my first repaint. The silver might be a bit light because I made it to match the F7 locos of Lord Mannu's pack.

Yeah it does!

Plus, you're the only one to do this, I think. I will enjoy this very much until the PA-1 comes out with the complete set. Even then, I'll still mix them. !!*ok*!!

Thanks for your excellent work, although I do agree that the silver could be a bit more darkened. !*salute*!

One thing to consider; Silver is not just a shade of gray. It has specks and highlights of red and blue that give it life. I downloaded a metal texture and added it as a cut out layer and got fair results.

Nice start. Keep in mind though that the Indian head always faces the A-end of the loco. :D

If ATSF had owned FAs, then the B-unit in the 3rd image would also need to be reversed.

What he means is that the Indian head logo needs to face the same direction on both sites of the locomotive, and always face towards the front unless an A-unit is reversed.

Strategy First is no longer with us on the forum.

I was the one who painted this. Sadly it does not exist anymore, lost in a harddrive reformat
