Cajon Pass Enhancement Pack 2.0

Description
Package of improvements for the Cajon Pass route available on Steam..

The package includes the following improvements::

Version 1.0
  • Implementation of superelevation.
Version 1.1
  • Superelevation suppressed in some branches.
Version 1.2
  • New packaging. It is no longer installed as a separate route.
Version 1.3
  • Solved small incompatibility with TS2013.
Version 1.4
  • Added occlusion volumes to tunnels, bridges and engine sheds.
  • Fixed position of Barstow engine shed (it was in the air).
  • Astronomical parameters modified so that the sun and moon appear on the correct coordinates.
  • Added new realistic moon with lunar phases.
Version 1.5
  • Values of tunnel occlusion volumes modified by a more suitable. The above values were causing overnight a fog effect on windows.
Version 1.6
  • Restoring of sky textures which - for unknown reasons - with the upgrade to TS2014 they had returned the textures of old versions of railworks.
Version 1.7
  • Fixed several corrupt files.
  • Fixed several strange "artifacts" produced by some roads.
Version 1.8
  • Solved several strange “artifacts” that some users still saw in Hesperia.
Version 1.9
  • Added distant terrain textures.

It is a zip file, right? The downloaded file doesn't have an extension it seems.

Will the new ScaleRail work on this route?

Yes, it's a zip file. I named the file with spaces and certain browsers (eg Firefox) did not recognize the extension.
I have already corrected.

Understood. I will try to change the default tracks into the new ScaleRail-with-superelevation tracks. The default tracks have rather too much moiré effect for my liking.

I do not think it's necessary for you to change anything, because this route is installed separately and not overwrite anything.

RSC already updated Cajon (B to SB, that is) with superelevation and other improvements. I guess I applaud your efforts, but I'm not going to add another route the size of B to SB to my already large RW installation.

You are mistaken in part.
Yes, RSC updated the route, but only included tracks with clothoids, did not include the as such superelevation,. Had it done so, I would not have bothered to do the work.

My decision to create a separate route is to avoid reinstallation whenever you verify cache or receive an update via Steam. But if you do not want to download the route you are on your right. I just wanted to announce here.

I got it installed and verified with RW_Tools. Everything is OK.

The ScaleRail just looks better in my opinion than the default tracks, which have horrible moiré on the switches in my display settings. Hack said the newest version of his ScaleRail is ready-to-run for superelevation provided the necessary easements leading in and out of the superelevated curves have been laid. So this would be a good test to try them out.

That is what you have done, senor Bermudez, painstakingly adjusting the track to include those easements?

I'll try to report later with my findings and perhaps a few screenshots.

Yes, you are right, ScaleRail looks better. I will study the possibility of including them in a future version of the route.

You used MaxCantAngleDegrees 4 and CurveToAnglePercent 20 and LineUnevenness 20 right?

I find the transition in and out of superelevetad curves is still a bit too abrupt for my liking, perhaps because the easement sections are a little short here and there.
So I reduced the MaxCantAngle to 2 and increased LineUnevenness to 25.
This makes the transitions less abrupt and more in line with the general cab sway.
It is hardly noticeable from the cab, but clearly visible from the front external camera view.

I remember having seen a .bat file to change the default track into ScaleRail for Barstow - San Bernardino, but cannot find it back right now.

Yes.
I think those are the best parameters that can be applied.

Is there a easier way to download the cajon pass route? As of right now I cant find the download link on your website.

My own TrackRule uses similar values, except LineUneveness was set to 5 (it was higher, but with unsatisfactory results). The trick I found when laying out my own version of the triple track was to set the line speed to a higher level, thus increasing the length of easements as well as lessening the effect of cab-jolt when entering a curve. The original part of the route runs from Colton to Indio over the Yuma district, and the TrackRule speed was much lower and in stark contrast to the increased speed set in the current rule for the Cajon portion, and as a result, I will likely need to relay the UP section.
