MLW Audio for HiLine (and other patches)

Unread postby kris120 » Sat May 02, 2020 9:04 am

Hi,
maybe you have seen my sound- and consist-patch for the engines of the HiLine with the sounds of MLW and Krellnut:

Until now I have got no reply, so I think there were no issues.

But that's not always the case:
I myself see sometimes my trainbrake blocked using the keyboard. This issue does not affect the handling with the mouse.
I would like to ask you to tell me here your experience and report such cases of blocked trainbrakes.

I would need the following information:
- the first loco in the playertrain.
- the other locos in the playertrain (directly coupled to the first loco or separated by wagons)
- did all wagons use a wagonscript (like the Wagon_script.lua from Kuju) ?
- the same for all AI-trains in the scenario.
It would be nice if you could provide me the exact name and location of the loco-blueprints. Alternatively the scenario packed as rwp/rar/zip (with routename).

I would like to extend the amount of routes to the consists and include more and other locos and wagons from other packages.
This might only be possible if I know this does not affect your system.

Today I had a nice finding (shame on me: I did not realize that around the beginning of this year):
It seems that the AI trains just should use the DP-version of the locos patched with MLW-sound. This I have got for the ES44DC BNSF of my package.
With the GP38-3 I still do not see a way to activate sound by MLW (there is no DP-version of this loco available?)

Hope for all your findings

Kris

Ja, I see. I hope I'll have the time for updating the package next week.

At the moment I'm investigating other locos of the GEVO-SP and the SP for SD70M/MAC by MLW.
For Sherman Hill I can say now: AI with these locos (ES44AC, SD70MAC) is not what I expect: just idling sounds.
For player-trains avoid SH_ES44AC.bin and SH_ES44AC_ND.bin ("advanced brake mode"): the trainbrake is not working.
SH_SD70M_nadb.bin + SH_ES44AC_nd_nadbr.bin work well except a not working enginebrake (only in F4), but that is not really relevant for driving.
The SH_ES44AC_nadbr.bin in the first position works well with the SH_SD70M_nadb.bin and even the MP_ES44DC_BNSF_MLW.bin from my package (HiLine):

Here all locos (AI, too) have MLW-sound.

For Sherman Hill and other SD70... and ES44... there will be a package with working consists for the player and as AI like for the HiLine. Some as combinations similar to above screenshot.

Got a fix for the alerter of some SD70M, which works now in every patched loco.
Created a solution for external alerters in all patched SD70M and updated the external alerter for the GEVO-package (now louder, the old was very quiet in the distance).
These will be available as optional patches.

I hope you'll like it

SH_ES44AC.bin and SH_ES44AC_ND.bin are the default bins, i copied and pasted the SS ones to match the defaults so I can use them in existing scenarios

I attempted it but failed miserably. The SD70M works ok though

I think I will try it with the Livona, too as it is available not only in the US (as all UP-routes).
Just did not have the time for it,

Thank you! I'm gonna be pulling my attempted patch offline as a result; let me know how patching up the ES44AC and the GP38-2 go

I did a fresh install of TS this week and didnt save the files (stupidly) nor could find them.

Brandon Reardon made an SS patch for the Granger Heartland SD70ACE on the TS2020 Fans FB group. The link is also present in the Granger Heartland thread
