Western Pacific EMD FP7 & Rio Grande EMD F9 Physics Mod Release

NOTE (READ FIRST): This video was SUPPOSED to have commentary, but I forgot to hit the "save settings" button on Bandicam before I initiated the recording. Bear with me. Things I mention: READ THE DLC MANUAL and README file for this mod for your own sake. The FP7 dynamic brake handle is wonky; will report to DTG. Note the difference in acceleration between FP7 consist and F9 consist. F9 brake response rates in video is default; this has been adjusted in the mod to behave more like the FP7 brake response rates. Note the Mars Light on the F9 that activates when the horn is blown. Didn't notice if this is also on the FP7. EMD FP7 test lasts up until 35:00 min in the video; EMD F9 test follows.

This is the DTG Western Pacific EMD FP7 & Rio Grande EMD F9 Physics Mod Pack V1.0

In order to utilize this freeware physics upgrade, you must have purchased the "Train Simulator: Western Pacific FP7 ‘California Zephyr’ Loco Add-On": http://store.steampowered.com/app/376953/

This is a freeware pack; in no way is it to be used for commercial purposes. You are free, however to further modify the physics enhancements found in this pack for personal use if you so choose.

THIS IS NOT A SOUND UPGRADE PACK. Physics adjustments made around existing sounds.

The purpose of this pack is to correct physics errors in the DTG FP7 & F9 locomotives.

General Parameter Change Log (Physics):
1. Adjusted tractive effort & dynamic brake effort curves down to real world values.
2. Adjusted power ratings.
3. Fixed locomotive weights.
4. Set fuel capacity to 1200 gallons.
5. Adjusted air brake response rate on F9 unit.
6. Corrected Notch 2 loading issues.

1. EMD FP7 (EMD 16-567B; 1500 THP)
a. Starting tractive effort of 64,000 lbs (284.6862 kN) from 0 mph to 4 mph
b. Continuous TE of 40,000 lbs (177.93 kN) @ 9.3 mph
c. Wheel horsepower of 1,380 hp (1,030 kW) @ 22.37 mph
d. Dynamic brake effort of 35,000 lbs (155.687756 kN) @ 23 mph
e. Weight of 115.18 imperial tons (258,000 lbs)
f. Max traction amps = 1500 (64,000 lbs)
g. Engine RPM range = 275 - 800
h. RPM change rate (rpm/second) = 35
i. Fuel consumption range (gph)= 3.5 - 93.1
j. Maximum speed of 89 mph (Gear Ratio: 58:19)
k. Fuel capacity = 1,200 gallons

2. EMD F9 (EMD 16-567C; 1750 THP)
a. Starting tractive effort of 56,500 lbs (251.32452 kN) from 0 mph to 4 mph
b. Continuous TE of 40,000 lbs (177.93 kN) @ 9.3 mph
c. Wheel horsepower of 1,608 hp (1,200 kW) @ 22.37 mph
d. Dynamic brake effort of 35,000 lbs (155.687756 kN) @ 23 mph
e. Weight of 104.6 imperial tons (234,304 lbs)
f. Max traction amps = 1500 (56,500 lbs)
g. Engine RPM range = 275 - 800
h. RPM change rate (rpm/second) = 40
i. Fuel consumption range (gph)= 3.5 - 108.1
j. Maximum speed of 89 mph (Gear Ratio: 58:19)
k. Fuel capacity = 1,200 gallons

IMPORTANT; Install Instructions

1. Open the following directory: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\DTG\EMDFP7Pack01"
2. Open the "DTG_Western_Pacific_EMD_FP7_And_F9_Physics_Mod_Pack.rar" file
3. Drag the folder from the .rar file into the directory from step 1.
4. Physics mod installation is complete.
5. Run TS2016 to confirm.

I believe the dynamic brake handle can be manually fixed via reworking the sensitivity values.

Can this mod still be used after the DLC was updated in August?

I don't know, but I've been hearing reports of non-functionality. It's on my list of things to look at and possibly update in the near future.
