Totally freeware steam locomotives. Are there any as in MSTS?

Unread postby jalsina » Tue Oct 20, 2015 5:56 pm

Does it exist in the Railworks world (anywhere) something like a "fully freeware" US or European steam locomotive?
I don´t mean only repaints but full modelling, animation, cab, textures, sounds, particles and physics.

Thank you! May you point me to the site?

Again, those conversions are NOT mine. I just did a bit of promotion for them.

It's on a locomotive to locomotive basis. Some are more stable than others.

The ones I have run are just fine. Detail is lacking for the affectionados but then something is always lacking for them. The locomotives basically just look like they did in MSTS.

Personally, I've never been able to run the ATSF 2926 for very long before it derails because of glitching lol, but I haven't run that since TS2014, so I can't say whether or not the updates in the game engine have fixed the problem.

I took a good look at that video of the MSTS conversions (and downloaded the file). There is only one of the locomotives that seem acceptable, the 9000 series. !*not-ok*!
I hope that TS2016 users that did not play with MSTS do not think that was the quality of the locomotives in that game.
I saw and had very good models with great physics and sounds, both freeware and payware. I made some myself.

So I rephrase the question:

Is there at least "one freeware steam locomotive" built from scratch that may run in TS2016 and that have a model similar to the Berk or K4? I suspect the answer may be negative.

Well I believe there is a berk to go with the RW&A route here in the file library. It has the same sounds as the gtrax berk, but it's a completely different model, not a repaint. Also I think UKTS has some freeware steam locos that are pretty good.
