Buzz, I am glad you like it but I will only take particial credit for the scenarios. Rich S. inspired me to make the scenarios and he built the route. We both shared common interests of the history of the Montour railroad and I am greatful he spent the time building the route.

I just uploaded to the file library a Yard, Siding, and Industry (YSI) diagram for the Montour. I hope it will be of help to both scenario designers and virtual Montour engineers.

You should see it tomorrow for download.

jamesphh wrote:Since the Mont did not have dynamics, the cost for brake shoes must have been a major expence! I did not realize that engines were not allowed under tipples. That is evidently why I got a failed drop at Miffen trk 1 and had to move and replace two loaded cars to get to the stop point.
By the way, what is the amp red line on the SW 1500? I was about 900 on some up grades.

The cost of brake shoes was no different than in the days of steam locomotives and at the slower speeds of the Montour, it was not a big concern. The yellow band on the Ammeter starts right above 1100 Amps, and the red band start above 1200 Amps, so at 900 Amps you are fine.

If I can remember seeing around 930 amps at one point. Ask Rich, this was a standard movement that was performed on the Montour. It was mentiond by one former employee of the montour that this was typical coomming out of Westland and once the SW1500's were tuned in everything was fine. If I can remember the P&LE wanted to pull 65 cars a day out of Westland and it was figured out that 4 SW1500's would do the work. Tow big reasons for my love of the Montour was the mining and its operation was pretty simple. Everything was governed by train orders. I grew up close to Montour 10 and Montour 4 mines.
I hope that everyone likes the route and scenarios.
I have 2 more in BETA right now and a 3rd about 25 percent completed and one more on the drawing board.

Wow! Tremendous work.
I wonder if there is, somewhere, a table of which cars are typically shipped/received by industries?

That will be in a future release, probably when Rich releases his final route. I wanted to get this out sooner than later so folks can use it with Glenn's scenarios.

Thanks, but actually I meant a generic table, not specific to this railroad.
For example, what types of cars does a steel mill receive, and which ones does it ships?

Before I forget, here is where you can download the timetables, depending the timeframe. I use the 1977 version.

Although developed for model railroading, I found this little application pretty useful.

Also, see if this little .pdf helps you out.

In my quest for more knowledge of this area I went to a site I have used in the past for research here in WV. Some may find this of interest to kind of tie the real and virtual worlds together enjoy.

The Montour historical society members are very knowledgable of the mines along the Montour. Click on the blue links for a discription of the mines. Once in that page some have another link to a Adobe document that has more information about the mine.

I am in the process of running the 2nd of the Mifflin to Montour 10 scenarios, having changed out the power for MTR SW1200s. I have noticed two missing assets for the route. Something is missing between the actual bridge and the piers on the Library Viaduct. Also, the center section of the coal loaders (where the chutes are) is missing at Montour 10.
This a nice route to run with virtually no stuttering on my machine. I have screen shots if anybody needs them to see what I am talking about.
