Alpenfreight's Simple Weather Mod

Unread postby Alpenfreight » Wed Jul 06, 2016 9:01 pm

Hey All,

I have been working the past few weeks on improving the 3D weather system introduced in Train Simulator 2015. I have finally reached the point that I am happy enough with the changes to show everyone what I have done.

Image

This mod aims to improve the color of the sim and create a more realistic effect than the default 3D weather system.

Main Improvements include:
-Much more blue and realistic sky
-More prominent clouds
-Larger sun and moon
-Higher contrast and saturation
-Darker shadows
-More intense rain
-Darker nights

Backup All Files before continuing!

Copy the two SilverLining files to your Silverlining directory:
RailWorks\data\SilverLining

Load a scenario using 3D weather (or quickdrive). You MUST have dynamic clouds enabled for the 3D weather to work.

http://www.mediafire.com/download/sehfd ... WM_v02.zip

Please let me know what you think. I hope to continue improving this mod as I believe there is still a lot that can be done with SilverLining.

Well, I've tried it out and the sky is much bluer, that is a fact, well done and thank you for this mod. I was a little confused reading the Read Me where you wrote - Must have Dynamic clouds enabled. Under the 3D clouds all you have are 3D clear, 3D cloudy, 3D foggy, 3D raining, etc, etc, so, not sure exactly what you mean, but, the mod works, so, that's all that matters. !*salute*! *!!thnx!!*

This is a setting found in the graphic settings. Turning it off would result in always using the older weather systems.

Oh yes, of course, thank you, I haven't touched the Dynamic lighting and cloud boxes for years, they've always been ticked, I'd forgotten they were there to be honest. !*roll-laugh*!

Great shot! Mind sharing what route/time that was taken at? I finally was able to get rid of the absurd moon glow so the night sky is actually black. There is still a bit too much horizon glow for me though, I might be able to tweak that.
