Thanks for this explanation, this is a great command! Good luck on the work shift!

YW....Yes, there are a lot of goodies I am learning and will have great fun playing with them. Thank god those night shifts are over for this round, I completely misread and goofed in looking and reading Rich's updated exam picture.
Extra treat today…

so we will have an extra called
N.
First up the Red
I shown in Rich’s selection above for us with 8.2 Pro is called the Show Shapes icon. Basically, by clicking on this icon it hides all the shapes. I would have thought you could select a particular shape and by clicking this icon it would hide that selected shape only, but it doesn’t as far as I can work out…it hides all shapes.
To hide a particular shape, highlight it , right click and tick the hide selection. This option would certainly help if you have to fine tune a particular shape that was embedded amongst other shapes.
Anyway..back to Rich’s exam, the
I is the Show Shapes icon and as shown by the pictures below it “Hides the Shapes”

Now my goof…the new
N. This is called the Material Preview icon as shown by
A ( Myself, I would call it the Texture Preview and something you would use to view or test before you actually textured your object. )
In my picture below, say for instance you were texturing the roof of this so called shed. You have all the side textures done (
1 &
2 ) and you had three or four rusted types of roof textures and wasn’t sure which would one be suitable.
You would highlight the roof face (
3a ) select the Material Panel (
B ) look for your roof texture in the Texture Library and select it (
3 in this example ). This texture will show in the Material Palette as indicated by the circle.
Now click on the Material Preview icon (
A ) and the texture will show on your object as indicated by (
3a ). In leaving the Material Preview icon (
A ) selected you can now toggle ( left clicking each ) your roof textures in the library until you are satisfied which one was suitable.
