I'll be there July 4th. 
Amtrak to DC from NYC and drive to Raleigh for a pit stop. Spencer on the 4th then drive to Roanoke and railfan there for the 5th before going back to DC for a train to NYC.
Hopefully the July 4th celebrations and whatnot thin the crowd out a bit.
