Overview of RW3 / TS 2012 Updating Progess

Unread postby GreatNortherner » Tue Sep 27, 2011 3:54 pm

Hi,

I just thought I'd post a quick overview of the progress of the RW3 updates of my models. The full 'story' is on my website, but then I know that this is a long read and not the easiest place to navigate too.

So how are the updates to RW3 coming along?

Not too quickly but at a steady pace and without major problems. I know what I need to change so it's only a matter of time until I will have covered all add-ons, eventually this will also include the scenery objects.

What does the update include?

On all models that have been updated, I modified the textures and material settings if necessary so they won't be too glossy or bright. Also, I'll add my latest version truck models. I'll also delete the "stencil shadows" from the files, these are now unnecessary ballast in the shape files (and I never really liked the look of them anyway). Finally, the custom couplers will be included with all packs and brake physics will be adjusted if necessary.

How to upgrade your older versions of the add-ons?

Quite simple: download the new file (all files available on my website are TS 2012 optimized). Your old download links (for payware stuff) will still work. If you want to be on the safe side, uninstall the old version first (though that might not even be necessary), then install the new package (it'll have the same file name as before). Except of the visual appearance (and in some cases the braking physics), all should work as before.

Which models have already been updated?

So far, TS 2012 updates are available for:

++ NP Late 19th Century Pack
++ NP Early 20th Century Pack
++ PRR Passenger Pack
++ 36ft Boxcars
++ PRR K7a Stock Car
++ Wooden Side Gondolas
++ Skeleton Logcars
++ BN Woodchip Gondolas
++ BN 100t Hoppers

++ BN Offset Side 55t/70t Hoppers
++ NYC Offset Side 55t/70t Hoppers
++ ATSF Freight Pack #1
++ ATSF Freight Pack #2
++ ATSF 40' PS-1 XM 8-Pack
++ BN Thrall 65' Bulkhead Flatcar

"Stay tuned for more!" *!!wink!!*

Cheers!
Michael

Thanks, Michael for going through the work involved to update all your packs. It's really appreciated. !*cheers*!

Will you also be updating the RWA models?

Hi, yes the R&WA models will also receive an update. The changes needed there are less drastic though, only some alpha channels might need to be darkened a bit.

Cheers,
Michael

OK, sounds like I don't need to panic since my RWA repaints look pretty good in RW3 (I made the alpha adjustments as part of my repaint).

I have no idea where most, if it all my download links are.. Problem I have with so many 3rd party vendors. I collect them with the thought of "I'll never need a full download link again, I always have back ups"

Here we with a case of where I will actually need all the download links for my purchases again.. Mr. Stephens, how should I go about this request?

Just email Michael and he'll send you download links.

He keeps records of everything you've purchased so he'll know what to send.

Hi,

Just let me know if you'd like me to send you the download links again, I'll send you the links to all the files you bought earlier.

BTW, there are now three new additions to the RW3 'roster', ATSF Pack 2, ATSF 40' PS-1 XMs, Thrall 65' bulkhead flat.

Cheers,
Michael

hey, i bought the woodchip hoppers, 70t hoppers, and boxcar mega pack quite some time ago, i see that all but the boxcars are on the updated page, does this mean that they are still not updated? (i don't know because i got all of it in a package and can't remember if certan ones were sold seperatly?)

also, what package are you working on next to update? (would like to see your modern boxcar pack updated, SP repaints of those by some repainters would be perfict for donners pass!)

If you'll go to the root level in which you found this thread, you'll find lots of announcements about the updates.

viewforum.php?f=20

I think Michael has said that the modern boxcar was the one most broken by 2012. It may be near the bottom of the list for that reason. He's been cranking out the updates very fast, I think.
