Ummm, yeah, we all knew that last year. You should take the time and read this entire Topic, then you will understand what the status of this route is. !*don-know!*

Well, that site used to be just fine.... then I guess somebody decided to use the name when Tori's old site died.

The C&O Allegheny route can be found here, along with the old CSX Mainline route: http://www.ovsrails.com/downloads/rwdownloads.htm

Is this route prototypical or fictional? I love driving on this route. I am a member of http://www.ovsrails.com and we use this route for our work orders. I am in the middle of building my own route but if you want help finishing the route I am more than willing to help. Just let me know. !!*ok*!! I hope your health is better. Just haven't seen a post here in a while.

It's prototypical.

Like Buzz said, it is prototypical. In fact one of the best routes in this repect and given the limitations of the game.

Tori modeled the mid 80's, Chessie System Alleghany Sub, as it already was rationalized from the original C&O layout from the 40's.
Today, CSX has rationalized even further, so present day Google Earth shows a lot of track has been ripped up.

We cannot use the time travel feature of Google Earth in the game, can we? Google Earth in a browser or its own app allows you to view older images and aerial photography composites from earlier decades that could be helpful in tracklaying.

Nope. My Google Earth in-game feature doesn't even work because for whatever reason the game is stuck in "offline mode", regardless of how Steam is set. *!mad!*

I use 2 monitors and have google earth on one and route editor on the other. I have the overlay turned on and then I also use the second monitor to look at other years on Google earth. Not so much for the era but for the season change. Where I am working now all of Google earth 2012 is in the fall. In 2008 they are in the summer so all the trees are more visible instead of just branches and trunks.

The overlay helps immensly in laying scenery and track.

I talked with Tori a last month, she said she is doing fine, off enjoying the summer and other things. I look to see her back before long..

I also tend to work with Google Maps up on the adjacent computer. BUT I have also found Bing Maps to be very helpful. Many times when I spin the camera around,I will find a view that is older,or from a different season. It has helped me solve many track and scenery mysteries.

is it self-sustained archive, or 3rd party assets required?

Third party assets are needed, and a few are no longer available. There is a list in the readme files.

I recently re-installed CO&A 4.5 and found one Standard Scenario that wouldn't load. The error message said that the route was missing the file ACF Chair car. IIRC, there was a required asset called CO&A F7 Set. Most likely the ACF Chair car is in that set. Can anyone remember if that F7 set was payware, or if not where I can find it?

Thanks
