Have done some modifications to several textures in the last 24 hours. Here's the..... result. Should look a tad dryer now.

A bit of input for what it may be worth, but you can take it with a pinch of salt as well!

The new colours look odd to me for some reason - it may be the difference in colour settings on our screens. The previous coloulooked far better - looked more natural! The earth and the grass shades blended to gather to a degree - giving a good dusty impression.

In the new one I see a strong contrast between the grass and the earth, and to my eyes, it looks very artificial.

I can see where you're coming from with that comment, Kevin. But I felt the need to make the area look more arid and desolate. I might have to compromise at about the halfway point with the terrain textures though, as I might have gone a little bit overboard with the near desert style look to it. It just looked way too green to me initially.

I haven't touched the route in the last week and a half due to being preoccupied, but it will get finished. Not a lot to add now, except for the remaining foliage and additional miscellaneous objects between Wunkar and Yinkanie, then a few kms of track/scenery on each side of Wanbi.

Maybe thin the the grass just a tiny tiny bit if possible to increase the desert look.

But I think the previous one was fine - and deserty enough!

I had a feeling that it was a little too arid. The grass needs to be visible to a small degree, so I darkened the textures a little bit. It will need some further adjustments, but at least it renders the actual landscape with a small degree of actual mediocrity now. I have also redone the ROW texture and one for the embankment, as well as readding (drawn on) sleepers to the track loft.

Here's another modification to the textures, following the unofficial reacquisition of actual control over certain objects that seemed to have a mind of their own.

This is what the real thing looks like in Streetview a bit further down the road.

Looking north-west just south of the terminus. The last curve is visible to the right of the image. I've also modified the eucalyptus tree to the left to make it less of an eyesore.

During the last few days, a bit of time was wasted trying to create a replacement ground texture by modifying values in Paint Shop Pro. Then the obvious method sprung to mind - why not use the original source?

Nonetheless, I have created a similar but not identical texture with the 2013 TGPCDX files of the original stored in another folder. I don't think it's completely awful, but it may resemble somewhere on Earth at least, even if the FB users disagree with it having any Mallee look to it at all. And BTW, I do appreciate the comments, even if it seems like I'm ignoring them, which is not the case.

I managed to recover the original terrain textures through RW tools as mentioned in another thread, so here's what it currently looks like. The actual base texture is vastly different to the ones I was endlessly modifying in PSP X5 (I much prefer it over Photoshop elements).

That looks pretty dry to me now!

PS - I prefer PSP as well! Use it for all my photographic work, as well as my "painting".

The Yinkanie terminus slowly coming to life. I intend to adjust the grass/foliage to include more overgrowth and weeds obviously, as it doesn't match the 1960s image very well in this regard.
